THE SCHOOL

Senior High School of Intercultural Education of Evosmos Thessaloniki was founded in September 2002 and officially belongs to the offices of the Secondary Education of Western Thessaloniki. In 2007 the school was transferred in a new building, (built by co-financing of EU) and since then it operates in a modern environment. There are 13 teaching classrooms, a technical drawing room, a language classroom, a computer room and a science laboratory.

Following the legislation that the Greek Ministry sets regarding Intercultural Education, the selection of the teaching staff is based on specific criteria like postgraduate studies, knowledge of foreign languages, e.t.c.  Therefore, the teachers of the school are highly qualified. The numbers of teachers that work in the school are twenty-nine (18 teachers belong to the permanent staff of the school whereas eleven of them are temporarily appointed).

The majority of the students are from the area around the school whereas a small number are children of migrant workers and belong to ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities.

Every year a variety of educational programs and innovative projects (cultural, environmental, health education, career education) are implemented after the teaching hours.

The school has participated in the Comenius multilateral partnership (2011-2013) called ?Think, Talk, Touch? whereas currently an Erasmus + KA1 scholarship has been obtained focusing on the training of the staff.
